A super rare one of a kind Rhenium-Gold nugget from Eastern Oregon!
This crazy piece was recently found with a metal detector in the Mormon Basin mining district. It weighs 4.45 grams. We had it laser assayed and it is composed of 60.81% Gold, 28.47% Rhenium, and 10.65% Silver. Rhenium is one of the rarest elements in the earths crust, at only 1 part per billion. It has a melting point of 5767 degrees fahrenheit, and it's also heavier than Gold with a specific gravity of 21.02. This is the first one of these we've ever seen and it will be a great addition to someone natural specimen rarity collection!
